Challenge:
A Perth-based transport operator running a fleet of approximately 20–30 courier trucks needed a safer method for securing mixed freight loads. These loads often included heavy and oversized items that required manual restraint. Workers were climbing onto truck trays multiple times per shift to secure straps, which created fall risks, unstable footing, and inconsistent compliance with safe work practices.
Solution:
A Transport Side Access Platform (TSAP) was introduced to improve safety and efficiency. The platform features a dedicated access ladder for controlled entry, full handrail frames for fall protection, and an enclosed elevated platform for stable positioning. Lockable swivel castors allow safe relocation and setup. An integrated tool tray keeps straps and equipment within reach, reducing unnecessary movement while securing loads.
Outcome:
The use of the TSAP removed the need for workers to climb directly onto truck trays, improving stability and control during load restraint tasks. This led to safer and more consistent work practices, smoother daily operations, and better alignment with client safety requirements.
