Earlier this week, our team took part in the Safe Moves Manual Handling Workshop, focused on building safer movement habits that genuinely support day‑to‑day work while promoting awareness and preventing manual handling–related injuries.
The session began with a 30–45 minute theory component, tailored to the physical demands of our roles and the common risks linked to manual handling. This helped participants better understand injury risks and safe movement principles.
From there, the team completed a guided warm‑up, stretching and light exercise routine, reinforcing the importance of preparing the body before undertaking physical tasks.
We then moved into the practical component, working through a range of real‑world manual handling techniques, including team lifts, single‑person lifts, lifting above head height, and safely carrying loads. A strong emphasis was placed on injury prevention and the consistent application of safe techniques.
“Good manual handling is about awareness and consistency — not just training once, but applying it every day,” said Erika Cifuentes, HSEQ Advisor.
To deliver the workshop, we partnered with Rehab Management, a specialist provider that supports businesses to create safe, positive workplaces through best‑practice manual handling, ergonomics, injury management and return‑to‑work services.
At OEM Group®, safety remains everyone’s business. Sessions like this reinforce our ongoing commitment to reducing injury risk, improving ergonomics and supporting our people to work safely, confidently and sustainably.
